SOAR Public Playtest V0.6 Release !
The SOAR V0.6 Update has released!
It has been a bit, and I have picked up some skills since last we saw each other.
I have tried my hand at some layout stuff a bit, as well as doing some pieces here and there (if you're wondering who did the very simple Fever and Bullet stuff or the traits images and style logos? That's me!)
This update brings a whole bunch of changes, and I wanna focus on a few of them to shine a bit of a spotlight on them:
Some new changes!
-Spotlight Tokens, my way of reworking quirks, its a new narrative currency you keep track of, you spend them to do cool things, you earn them by making your negative quirk happen, we will see how it feels, but hopefully it works as intended and makes it so you can't just pick something you'll ignore.
-AOE effects! I was tired of writing "this space and every space adjacent to it" over and over, and making a keyword for it meant I could try something interesting with more abilities, so here we are!
-We got some new foes, including the Rascal, who has art by the incredible @cosmixian on twitter, the Rascal throws coins around the battlefield to bounce bullets on!
With all of this out of the way, here's the actual full changelog!
SOAR V0.6 Changelog!
-Tried something with the layout of some Styles, we will see if it sticks.
-Changed Prone, changed Off Balance to be clearer and more worth it, Prone now only takes 2 movement to clear instead of your whole standard movement.
-Changed Muscle Guy
-Added a new concept of Spotlight Tokens, changed how quirks work
-Added a way for most Stances to get their ressource in their default action and made them universal, to help with multistancing, one handed style instead gets an easy switch to a Style as a universal.
-Retooled Prone and Immobilized
-Wanderer Style goes to 4 speed, change in trait, changed Concentration
-Changed Demolisher Chain Grab
-Changed Boxing Form
-Changed Hemorrhage to Doom, Bleed to Agony
-Tweaked Water Style to make it flow better (heh)
-Changed Mad Style Vigilant Watch to have the Unwieldy tag
-Changed Fire Style's attack to have a fever consume option.
-Changed Vagrant's Dragon Parry
-Split Focus and Confirm into 4 concepts that are mutually exclusive to each mode of play
>They work the same, but SLASH of LIFE replaced Focus with Use Internal Strife, which forces you to interact with your Turmoil, the rest is the same.
-We've Added new tiles types, breakable variants and object variants.
-Changed some names for stances and stance mechanics, One Handed is now Light Weapon, Two Handed is now Heavy Weapon and the Gun stance now uses Bullets instead of Load.
-Added the Herder, a new foe
-Added the Duelist, a new foe
-Added the Wrestler, a new foe
-Added the MC, a new elite foe
-Added the Rascal, a new elite foe
-Added the Bullet Dancer, a new elite foe
-Added the Slugger, a new elite foe
-Added the Scumbag, a new mook you will hate
-Added templateless optionals, to make some foes more memorable.
>They're fragile, and don't do much damage, but they are annoying and you will almost always deal too much damage to them.
-Added a whole new section about Structure of Play, with more options
>This adds the CLASH option as well, for those of you who wanted to have a lil bit more options between rounds.
-To account to this new change, starting a fight with a boss at full health gives you some block and inspired
>I wanted to avoid the obvious situation that was going to show up of players deciding to take a proper rest and then stumble onto a boss fight anyway, this gives you something still.
-Tweaked harm and stress regain on a boss phase defeat, Added a trait to allow people to stand back up once during a boss fight
>Game was a lil too easy with bosses but I think this should make them sing more
